My long wait is over! Jollibee now has their own chicken nuggets product. This is something that I have been waiting for for years. I’m a big fan of the Chicken McNuggets from McDonald’s; and more recently, of the KFC chicken nuggets (I forget what they’re called). I found out about Jollibee’s Chicken Nugget Crunchers from Ryan Fernandez via Twitter.

Lucky for me, I was in Metro Manila (where Jollibee stores are everywhere - unlike Pililla, Rizal where the nearest Jollibee is a thirty minute drive away!), when I read Ryan’s tweet.So when I got the opportunity, I immediately bought the 5-pc Chicken Nugget Crunchers meal (with rice and drink, P99.00).
From what I’ve heard, this chicken nugget meal was “healthy” since it’s fortified with Vitamin A. Thanks to the carrot bits that are in the nugget bits. Then again, if it’s fried, is it still “healthy”?

So how was it?
I found it just okay. I’m still partial to Chicken McNuggets. I guess because McDonald’s has already perfected the art of cooking the nuggets. Jollibee’s Chicken Nugget Crunchers are slightly thinner than the McNuggets (and KFC’s nuggets). The pieces I got in my box were of different sizes - quite inconsistent - some were bigger than the others.
The coating is overly-seasoned that I think all that I’m eating is the coating. The carrot bits - you can’t really taste the and they make the nuggets look less delectable. The barbecue sauce tastes a bit similar to the barbecue sauce of McDonald’s but Jollibee’s seems a little bit on the lighter side.
Jollibee Chicken Nugget Crunchers are best eaten hot, because unlike their McDonald’s counterpart, they do not taste as good after thirty minutes to an hour.
The next time I’m craving for chicken nuggets, I’m actually heading into the direction of McDonald’s or KFC. If Jollibee is the only fast food chain nearby, then I guess I’ll just order Burger Steak with Rice and Choco Crumble Sundae.
